London Fashion Week came and went quicker than Champagne at a shop launch, and what a fashion week it was. We got trainers at Burberry (which model Suki Waterhouse, for one, was over the moon about), Christopher Kane got all tied up in nautical knots, Jonathan Saunders convinced us that camel and blue are very good for each other, and Topshop gave us a load of sporty sass to stick on our shopping lists.
But what you really want to know is what you’re supposed to be wearing next Spring/Summer, right? And – because we’re people who aren’t into waiting until next Spring/Summer for anything – how you can wear it right now?

**The 1970s **
Glam was rocking at Tom Ford (right) with flares and sequins that looked like what the 70s vintage Kate Moss was probably wearing in the 90s, proving Studio 54 style never gets old. Seventies glamour was on the agenda at Matthew Williamson (centre), as indeed, it very often is. The spirit of Bianca Jagger was present there too – the one that was jetting to Morocco in wafty printed pieces rather than the one on the razz at the infamous New York nightclub. House of Holland (left) was tapping groupies for his take on the decade, AKA, loud, brash and ready for a party. Can’t argue with that.
Wear it now with anything swishy and sequinned, printed midi-dressy with swishy sleeves and big, bold, vibrantly coloured florals.

Bows
Massive bow head-dresses at fun-times knitwear brand Sibling (left) almost stole the show from the sweet prints they gave us this season (*The Daily Mail’*s Liz Jones did not approve – endorsement if we ever heard it), and Jonathan Saunders (centre) prettily tied bunches of fabric all over his SS15 collection. Rope ran through Christopher Kane’s (right) latest offering, and where it wasn’t tangled in wilder knots on dresses and jackets, we saw it formed into dainty bows.
You can do this trend without even buying anything – just form any tie-details on clothes you already have accordingly. Although if you haven’t got the finger-skills of a sailor, you can quick-fix it with clip-ons or trompe l’oeil.

90s indie band
If you’ve got Shampoo, Kenickie and Sleeper on your 90s style inspiration Pinterest board, then did London Fashion Week have something for you. Not since Top of the Pops circa 1997 have we seen a pink Cheongsam dress or trainers/party-skirt/denim jacket combo worn as stylishly as they were at Ashley Williams (left) and Burberry (centre). And for those of you who’re more tomboyishly-inclined, the sporty tops at Topshop (right) ticked the ‘I’m in the band’ box.
Trainers are the essence of this look, and good news, you’ve probably already got those, and the high street has some bangin’ ones if you feel like an update. Stick them on with something candy-coloured and too-cool-to-care denim.

Sea siren
Massive mother-of-pearl shell buttons glistened gorgeously on JW Anderson’s (left) seafaring collection and the LED dress that opened Richard Nicoll’s (centre) collection of silk-meets-sporty dreaminess floated down the catwalk like an electrified jellyfish. In frothy mesh and sequins, Cara Delevigne at Topshop had the same allure as the mystical-looking mermaids we saw at Rodarte in New York.
Anything with pearls or an irridescent finish will give you an in on this sure-to-be-huge trend, and if you’re after something less shiny, sea-foamy ruffles of white lace will do.

Wide-leg trousers
Could skinny jeans be on their way out? Maybe not, given our unrequited love for them, but if you’re feeling the need to loosen up sometimes, you’re in for a treat because the wide-leg trend that’s already underway gets into full swing for SS15. Whistles (left) went minimal and slouchy, which is good news for anyone who wants to look chic while feeling as relaxed as a sloth in pyjamas. Ditto Preen by Thornton Bregazzi (centre) who brought too-wide-leg trousers to preppy new heights with stripes. New name Helen Lawrence went for just-cropped baggy denim in her Fashion East show for a flared look that ticks the 70s trend too.
There’s loads of these on the high street already in neat tailored cuts that stop them looking too sloppy. Wear with a loose shirt or T-shirt for maximum cool-casual, and if it’s too cold for flat sandals, just turn to your trusty Converse.
