The Best Bits From Red Nose Days Gone By
The Debrief: French and Saunders performing with The Spice Girls. ALi G interviewing Posh and Becks. There have been some absolute corkers.
Tonight it's Comic Relief (well, it's technically today) so if you're not wearing a red nose, then go to the nearest shop and buy one immediately. No, you won't be able to breathe properly but yes, you should definitely stay in tonight and watch the festivities. And donate.
Having seen some of the teasers of what's to come, we've got a parody of One Direction and, of course, more details about Dermot O'Leary's 24 hour dance-a-thon which he's currently doing right this very second. Involving him dancing for 24 hours straight as of 7.20pm last night - and if you fancy giving it a go yourself, you can order a dancing kit and join in (although probs ask your boss first).
Every year, there's a stone cold classic sketch/video/parody that we remember for decades to come - here's a rundown of the best bits from Comic Relief's gone by. From French and Saunders doing Spice Girls to Ali G interviewing David and Victoria Beckham in what is probably one of the best celebrity interviews of all time.
1997: Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Kathy Burke, Lulu and Llewella Gideon do Spice Girls
They were the biggest girl band in the world right about then, so it figured that five of the UK's best female comedians would take to the stage and rip into them. The Sugar Lumps is still funny now with Kathy as Sport Spice yelling 'BODYFORM FOR YOU' while wearing tracksuit and a bindi, and then the actual Spice Girls come out and perform with their comedy alter egos and it's awesome. Except for the fact they are miming. But we'll forgive them, because it's the 90s and they're the Spice Girls.
Kate Moss does Little Britain
Showing what a right laugh she can be, Kate Moss appeared as Matt Lucas's classic Vicky Pollard character's 'twin sister' Katie (probably spelt with two i's and a heart over them both) and still managed to look pretty cool. Unfortunately, the best video clip we could find had a typo in the heading but hey, it's worth it to see Kate push on a massive pram and be all 'Y'ALLRIGGGHT'.
2001: Robbie Williams does The Fast Show
One of the best British sketch shows of all time (in our opinion), the recurring characters of Ted and his equally socially awkward gardener Ted was one of the best. So when Robbie Williams joined in, it made it even better. Oh god do you remember in the last episode of The Fast Show when Ted and Ralph finally admitted their love for each other? So great.
Ali G (Sacha Baron-Cohen) interviews David and Victoria Beckham
Possibly one of the greatest interviews ever, Ali G interviews Posh and Becks and does not hold back. From asking David 'Had you already seen a picture of her and knocked one out?' to kindly caveating questions with 'And no disrespect to your bitch', this is fucking funny stuff. And good on them for agreeing to be a part of it - the anxiety is pretty palpable before he opens his mouth and it's justified. Probably watch through your hands.
Johnny Depp does Vicar of Dibley
Having spent the entire show going on about how much she fancies Johnny Depp, it was only a matter of time before the actor agreed to collaborate with Dawn French on the Vicar of Dibley. It's brilliant. Also, really great use of a blackout. 'Michael Caine, right, brought this mango'.
