Cheap, Fun Things To Do In Sheffield This Last Weekend In July
The Debrief: Yeah, that’s right. We said June.
It’s the last weekend of July, can you believe it? Neither can we. So instead of wondering where the hell the time has gone, we’re going to talk about how we’re going to turn up for the last weekend of July, okay? Okay!
Every week we give you the details on some of the best things to do in a different destination in the UK. Take a look below at some of the things we’ve found for this weekend in Sheffield.
Friday 28th July
Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to exist in the 1920s? Well, you've now got a chance to live it. Manhattan ‘til Midnight Live Music Nights is an exciting postmodern mix of loud, 20’s speakeasy style and jukebox classics. From 7 pm and is 'til late down at Marco’s New York Italian Sheffield you'll be able to take advantage of the 2-4-1 cocktails deal that's running ALL night. Laters 2017. Get your tickets over on the website.
Saturday 29th July
Vegan beer is a thing, you guys. And this weekend there's a whole festival dedicated to it! Hosted by Fat Gay Vegan, Sheffield Vegan Beer Fest is where you're probably gonna want to head on Saturday. There's gonna be a Beer Hall serving a selection of thirst-quenching, hand-picked beers and then out in the courtyard you'll find delicious vegan street food to soak it all up. To top it all off, there's a karaoke fundraiser for you to go and watch too. Book your tickets over on Design My Night.
As we all know, it's Pride month, and it's almost Sheffield's turn to host the celebration. Everything's going down at Endcliffe park this year, with two stages to keep the festivities flowin'. Live music, tribute bands, cabaret and burlesque performances are all in store, along with a load of other fun festival-like things. Excited? Thought so. A full breakdown of the day's events can be found over on the Pride Sheffield website.
If you were in the area for Pride last year, you'll be happy to hear that ‘Climax’ is back again this Saturday night at Foundry, Sheffield Students’ Union. Expect Pride cocktails, giveaways and all the good times! You'll even be able to request your fave tunes and when you're over that there's always the Karaoke Session over in Bar One to visit. Unleash your inner Yoncé. Grab your tickets over on the Skiddle site.
Sunday 30th July
Murder mystery isn't just a television thing guys, you can go and play along in one IRL. In fact, there's going to be one at the Botanical Gardens this Sunday afternoon! Who'd have thunk? This particular event is called 'Murder on the Terrace'. The victim is Lord Cava (like the drink, we guess), who was celebrating his retirement and preparing to hand over his empire to his nephew Charles. But apparently, Charles wasn't really about that life so had planned to shut it all down until he was found dead. Book your tickets on the website if you're feeling all Nancy Drew.
In celebration and support of the LGBTQ community in Sheffield and beyond, Broomhall Community Cinema returns with a screening of Kiki, a documentary about New York’s underground ballroom scene, with a particular focus on what life was like for LGBTQ people of colour. Prepare to return to the birthplace of voguing! Drinks and snacks will be on deck, of course. Tickets are only £3. All the information you need is over on the Facebook event page.
