The Best City Beaches In London To Go And Get Drunk At This Summer
The Debrief: Because you can’t afford a train ticket to Brighton
Just because you’re stuck in smelly old London doesn’t mean you can’t get some beach action. This year there’s LOADS of people who’ve taken the time to cart hundreds of tonnes of sand to a venue and create a seaside away from the sea in our country’s fair capital. Here’s some of the best.
Camden Beach @ The Roundhouse, Camden
No prizes for guessing where this one is. To be more specific, it’s actually at the Roundhouse and it’s sponsored by Stoli Vodka who are bringing with them a drinks van serving alcoholic mint lemonades and sorbets. They’re even giving a bunch of drinks away to the keen beans that get there early. There’s also beach huts, pop-up restaurants, deck chairs and lemon trees to sit under when it’s too hot. Oh, yeah, and don’t forget about 150 tonnes of sand they’ve got for you to
roll around and build sandcastles in sit on serenely.
Open 17 July - 23rd August. For more info click here.
Beach East @ Queen Elizabeth Park
More of a family affair, this beach is frigging HUGE. It’s free to get in, has a gigantic paddling pool (and really, we mean gigantic), a funfair, two beach bars, sports and again, a fuck ton of sand to play in. God bless the London Olympics, so great at the time, keeping on giving to this very day.
Open 11 July - 31 August. For more info click here.
Beach Rugby @ 10 Finsbury Square
Less a beach for you to mess around on and more a beach for you to sit idly by and watch posh chaps in shorts run into each other, all in aid of charity. Yep, it’s a beach rugby tournament. It’s being held on the 31 July and 1 August, and yes there’s a bar. All proceeds go to Help For Heroes.
On 31 July - 1 August. For more info click here.
Urban Beach @ Royal Victoria Docks
Sitting under the Emirates Cable Car (that thing that only four Londoners actually use to commute), this beach is basic, but still a beach. There’s a whole lotta sand and some nice deck chairs peppered about. Makes a nice alternative to sitting in the park.
Open th July - 30 August. For more info click here.
Chiswick Park Beach @ Chiswick
Another short-lived affair, this, but one if you’re looking to jazz up your lunch breaks. From 27-31 July, there’s going to be five days of summertime activities for all the people working in the area, from volleyball to sculpting.
Open 27-31 July.
