WOOOO It’s A New 50 Shades Of Grey, This Time Through Christian’s Eyes
The Debrief: Will we get to see his crumbling insecurities now?
You’ve got to wonder about the high-flying rich bloke who’s smoulderingly fit yet still feels so inadequate he has to control a woman to get himself off. Like, how deep must your insecurities be for you to want to tie up and whip a woman when you’ve got cufflinks worth people’s entire salaries?
Anyway, we must wonder no more about rich bloke Christian Grey’s self-esteem, because E L James, the writer of the original 50 Shades Of Grey books, is adding to her repertoire with a fourth book in the, uh, trilogy (will there eventually be 50 books, who knows?!). And this time, it’s going to be told through the eyes of Christian, instead of his protégé in BDSM, Anastasia Steele.
The book, which is due out on 18 June (FFS, we thought we’d just shrugged off all of the hype around that book/film/whatever), will go deep into the masochist’s psyche:
‘Christian is a complex character,’ warns James in a statement, adding: ‘And readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place – writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic publishing teams in the US and the UK.’
The opening dedication reads: ‘This book is dedicated to those readers who asked… and asked… and asked… and asked for this’
And what about the people who didn’t? Must we endure the pain of all the hype that’ll surround this story’s next instalment?
