This Calculator Works Out How Many Sexual Partners You've Been 'Indirectly Exposed' To

The Debrief: Prepare yourself: it'll probably be a lot more than you think.

Online Dcotor and Pharmacy service, Dr Felix, have developed a 'Sexual Exposure & STI Risk Calculator' which tells you how many people you've been indirectly exposed to, using the theory of 'six degrees of separation'. As well as that, it lets you know how likely you are to get certain STIs.

It is true that there has been an increase in some STIs – in 2014 there was a 33% increase in cases of syphilis and a 19% increase in gonorrhoea. Last year dating apps were blamed for a rise in STIs because of the ease at which people can meet partners and last week an Australian condom brand tapped into the power of Tinder and created 'profiles' for STIs to help raise awareness.

Just to really drive the concept home, they also relate the number of people you've been exposed to, to city populations, because who didn't want to know that they've been indirectly exposed to most of the population of Glasglow?

Of course this app isn't a substitute for real medical advice or sexual health tests and if you suspect you might have an STI, it's important to see a medical professional and be sure to get regular sexual health check-ups.
