Yale Fraternity Hosted 'White Girls Only' Party
The Debrief: 'He held his hand up to their faces and said, "No, we’re only looking for white girls."'
According to other Yale students, a fraternity member at the famous US college hosted a 'white girls only' party last Saturday, and was seen turning away groups of people who weren't white.
A member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, an onlooker said: 'A group of girls came up who were predominantly black and Hispanic. He held his hand up to their faces and said, "No, we’re only looking for white girls." He pulled a blonde girl up from the bottom of the stairs — over some people — pushed her inside and said, "We are looking for white girls only, white girls only." No brothers corrected him or said anything.'
Another student, Neema Githere, posted a Facebook status about the party, that has got nearly 200 shares already:
Brandon Weghorst, a spokesman for the frat's national office said: 'Our chapter at Yale University is comprised of a diverse group of students, and similarly, the social event included a diverse number of attendees. However, we will continue to investigate this allegation to determine additional information. Sigma Alpha Epsilon is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our members and their guests, and our leadership has zero tolerance for any behaviours or actions that deviate from our values, mission and creed.'
The fraternity's president has said he is 'shocked and flabbergasted' at the idea that this went on, and immediately reached out to two deans as well as arranging a forum at the Afro-American Cultural Center to talk about what happened. Hopefully, this is something the university can act on and stamp out – so far, it hasn't released an official comment.
