This Tool Tells You What Your Name Would Be If You Were Born In A Totally Different Era
The Debrief: If I was born in the 1960s my name would be Drucilla. Fantastic
Ever wanted to see what your name would have been if you were born today? Or 1988, or 1990 – basically any year, you get the idea. Well, you lucky lucky bunch, you now can. Time have created an interactive tool with social security data from the last twelve centuries to generate what your name would have been if you were born in a different year. Clever huh?
Slightly confused about how it works? We’ll break it down for you.
The government apparently collections information of each little baby born each year, including its name. Then, at the end of every year the names are ranked by popularity, cause baby name trends are all the rage…we think.
This tool is able to use your name’s ranking in the year you were born to see which name you equally ranked with throughout years in history. Yes, this is legit a thing. Here's what Team Debrief would be called in different eras.
Rebecca, editor, would be called Myrtle if she was born in the 1890s. It has a ring to it, doesn't it?
Vicky, features editor, would be Penelope if she was born in 2016. She could totally pull this off in a Penelope Cruz kind of way.
Natalia, creative editor, had some reaaaally unusal name choices. Like Yamilet if she was born in 2000, or Nan if she was born in the 1960s. Nan is a personally favourite. Natal is such a Nan.
Chemmie, our resident beauty and features writer would be Winnifred if she was born in the 1900s. Riiiiight.
Mind blown? If you were both today would you have a totally weird name like Drucilla? Or Sawyer? If this is your name, we love it really. Let us know what your name would be if you were born today via social media!
