People Are Starting To Realise That Putting \'Detox Pearls\' In Your Vagina Isn\'t A Great Idea

People Are Starting To Realise That Putting 'Detox Pearls' In Your Vagina Isn't A Great Idea

The Debrief: 'Your vagina isn't a handbag, so stop putting things up there.'

Hey guys, remember the other week when it came to light that some women were putting herb balls in their vagina to ‘detox’ the womb? How could you forget.

The strange phenomenon involved women buying ‘detox pearls’ and inserting them into the womb to ‘cleanse’ the area.

Unsurprisingly, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists were horrified by this concept, reiterating that ‘The vagina is designed to clean itself with natural secretions and should not require a “detox”. It contains good bacteria, which are there to protect it. If these bacteria are disturbed it can lead to infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or thrush, and inflammation.’

Now it seems at least some people have listened. On Etsy, three of the links that used to direct the customer to pages for womb 'detox pearls', endometriosis 'detox pearls' and 'womb detox tea', are now defunct.

Although there is still someone selling a women’s vaginal health bath bomb, which sure, you don’t actually insert, but could well upset your pH balance regardless.

That said, I still managed to find Uterus Healing packages, womb healing set and detoxing pearls available on Amazon and Embrace Pangaea, one of the original vendors, still sells them.

Here's hoping the rest of the sellers catch on and realise that promoting the idea of women sticking herbs up their vagina and wildly claiming it will help them is, quite frankly, irresponsible. As my editor said: your vagina isn't a handbag, so stop putting things up there.
