A 250-Year-Old Dildo (With Balls) Emerges From Toilet In Poland

The Debrief: Archaeological dig unearths the extra-phallic sex toy…

Anyway, the tradition of sex toy creators thinking, ‘Must go in woman so must look like a penis’ when making dildos now officially stretches back 250 years, as a pretty vintage dildo’s been unearthed in an archaeological dig in Gdańsk, Poland.

Diggers working in the Baltic city found the item in a latrine – which is what they called toilets in the 1700s as the flush toilet wasn’t invented until 1778 – said the dildo is ‘large, thick, made of leather, filled with bristles and has a wooden tip.’

After getting a bit of a clean-up, the dildo was said to be ‘preserved in excellent condition’ and ‘it was certainly expensive. Cleaning revealed it was made of high quality leather.’

The only reason it could have fallen down the latrine, the archaeologists have figured, is if the owner had accidentally dropped it there while having a toilet-wank.

‘This is an extraordinary find for people researching the history of erotica,’ said Marcin Tymiński at the Regional Office for the Protection of Monuments in an interview with Radio Gdańsk, reports Discovery News.

The ancient dildo has now been taken away so that it can be properly cleaned up and put into some exhibition somewhere, but we’re still wondering why on earth dildos come with balls, or are even shaped with bell-ends or ‘realistic’ veins or foreskins.
