Why Vivienne Westwood Attacked David Cameron's House This Weekend
The Debrief: She drove a tank and staged a chemical attack on the Prime Ministers pad
You know how it is: you’re one of the most recognisable fashion designers in the world, wake up and decide to pay the Prime Minister a visit in a big tank, staging a fake chemical attack. But in all seriousness, Vivienne Westwood did turn up in a tank at Cameron’s Chadlington mansion and yes, she did proceed to attack his constituency home, all in the name of Fracking. As in, she’s protesting heavily against it.
‘Cameron accuses foreign leaders such as President Gaddafi and President Assad of supposedly using chemicals on their own people as a justification for regime change,’ she said.
‘But he is doing precisely that here in Britain by forcing toxic, life-threatening fracking chemicals on his own people against the advice of his own chief scientist. It’s time for regime change in Britain. Cameron plans to force householders to surrender their land and endure fracking underneath their homes. Britons no longer have any choice but to fight back.’
This comes after the government announced last month that it would offer licenses for fracking in 27 locations in Yorkshire – a process of extracting gas from deep in the ground that causes pollution and earth tremors. Sadly, David wasn’t at home – instead, he was visiting Leeds, offending people from Yorkshire – but Vivienne has certainlly grabbed headlines, meaning that hopefully more people will be moved to rise up against the increase in this environmentally damaging process.
If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like when Vivienne Westwoofd drives a tank, then here’s yer chance. God, she’s cool:
