The annual coat ditch is upon us. Time to shove that parka you've been wearing since November mercilessly into the back/bottom of your wardrobe and put two fingers up to winter. Huzzah. We won. Summer is on its way (slowly, and we can’t promise it will ever actually arrive) but it’s definitely warmer and it’s most certainly too warm to be wearing a full-on coat. So it’s limelight time for jackets everywhere.

This jacket has caused a bit of a stir in fasho circles - it has an H&M label, you can buy it in H&M shops, but boy it does not feel like it has come from the high street. It’s the softest, swishiest suede in an intense blue that you rarely find unless you’ve forked out a month’s rent. Sure, it’s not for wallflowers, but you will be amazed how quickly you get used to how bright it is. Pair it with brown, grey and khaki to tone down the zing factor.
The Festival Lifesaver

OK, so clearly we’ve got a specific motive in mind with this one - we’re not suggesting you rock up to work in a plastic mac. But we are suggesting that for just £25 you pick up one of these genius creations for when festivals roll around (not that long guys, get making your mental shopping list now). Our creative editor spent last year at a festival wearing a bin bag over her carefully planned outfits so that she didn’t get soaked. Learn from her. Make her suffering worth it.
The Luxe Bomber
Bomber jacket, £155, G Star
The bomber jacket isn’t going anywhere this season, they’re just as popular for summer as they were during the winter months. We like how the indigo navy satin on this one looks a bit All Star American, like you might be about to hit a home run. Plus it would look flipping fantastic over a body-con number on a night out. (Yes, sorry, body-con is back, we can only apologise) If you’re not the bandage dress kinda gal, then wear it over a white T-shirt with some cut-off denim flares and some sliders.
The Slogan Back Jacket
Leopard print Jacket, £360, House of Holland at Urban Outfitters
Oh Henry Holland we love you. We really do. Not only are you exciting/crazy/mental enough to design a green leopard-print jacket, but you had to go one step further and put a Ghostbusters-esque GNARLY slogan on the back of it. Buy this baby to make everything else you own more exciting.
The All-Natural Denim Hero
Ecru jacket, £68, Topshop
Ecru comes from the French Ecru, meaning raw, uncooked, or in a jacket’s case, unbleached. Hence why this denim number looks like a shade of Farrow & Ball, rather than a teeth-whitening advert. Natural denim is the rage right now, from jackets to dungarees (worn together, if you’re mega stylish) and this Topshop version great value. You’re going to wear it year after year, and the beauty of it being so plain is that you can style it up in different ways - add a bright bandana or a few kooky badges if you prefer yours to look a little more 'done.'
