It’s Payday! How To Have The Best First Party Of The Year Now You’re Loaded (Sort Of)

You’ve been paid! You’re a millionaire! Here’s how to have a party and spend all that hard earned cash you’ve just had deposited in your bank account.

Payday

PHEW. Panic over. Payday has finally arrived, after a REEEALLLY long month that began with you over-spending on Christmas presents and an onslaught of festivities, and ended with you living off canned soup while you waited for payday to finally arrive. (And, thank God, you didn’t even have to ring your mum and borrow money. Again.)

You’ve probably been mega healthy, going to the gym like it’s going out of fashion and trying to make the most of your new NutriBullet, but now is the time to let your hair down once again. And what better way to do that than by throwing the first house party of 2015? You deserve it, after all. Here’s a few suggestions to get you on the way…

Get your fancy on with this ever-so-fancy cocktail

Now you're loaded it's time to prove it to your friends and the super elegant Grey Goose Le Fizz cocktail is exactly the way to do it. With delicious Grey Goose vodka and a dash of St Germain Elderflower Liqueur (make sure you keep hold of the super beautiful bottle for decoration after drinking), plus the fact you simply MUST serve it in a champagne flute (you can pick up some high quality plastic ones here, you might be loaded but you're still clumsy), it's the perfect cocktail to show the gang you've made it. For this month at least. Full recipe here.

Show off your newly toned bod by splashing out on a killer dress

You’ve made up your mind. 2015 is going to be your year. You’re going to smash it at work, start behaving a little bit more like a grown up, and generally just get your stuff together. Or, maybe, you’re just going to carry on making the same mistakes and generally feeling like you’re living the life of Girls (without the cool New York bit.) But either way, it’s time for a little refresh, and where else to start than with your wardrobe?

This lush dress from Urban Outfitters (on the left) is only £55, and will last you well into next year because it’s right on trend AND, like, transeasonal. In fact this isn’t a dress - this is an investment. Plus, it’s just the right amount of revealing - showing a flash of skin under some sexy organza. Winning.

Or, if you want something a little more laid back, splash your cash on this layered navy dress from Brick Lane’s Laden Showroom (£52). It’s not just party wear either, this would look uber chic with tights and boots at work. Double whammy.

Spruce up your house with some decorations (that aren’t just for parties)

Unless one of your new years resolutions was to take up origami, you probably don’t have much more than some left over tinsel to decorate your house with. Buying some playful new fairy lights will lighten up your lounge (and you don’t need to take them down when the parties over.)

These Woodland Rabbit Party Lights are only £18.20, and they’re WELL cute. Or if you’re after something a little more exotic, check out these Flamingo Fairy Lights (£14.95). Flamingoes are, like, totally in right now too. And, fun fact to impress your guests with, a flock of flamingos is called a flamboyance! Which is just plain awesome.

Why serve canapes when you can impress your guests with sliders?

If you’re feeling all Nigella-ish and want to treat your guests to some in vogue, mega-hipster nibbles, have a go at these Cider pulled pork sliders. They take a little bit of prep, but it will be worth it. Oh, and hand them out with serviettes - things could get messy.

And if you’re feeling all extravagant now you’ve finally got money again, check out this recipe for Salted Caramel Choc pots. Your guests have probably been as healthy as you for the last month so time to its time to put an end all those really boring, green, lean conversations and ….indulge.
