Oh Justin, dear sweet Justin, we know you’re only 20, but with the amount of money and professional hair care specialists you’ve got at your disposal, going for the ‘I’ve just gone HAM on the Sun In and now my whole head looks like Beyonce’s 2004 Grammy’s dress’ look is absolutely not acceptable.
Don’t worry, though, as a natural blonde who handled getting older and darker with a series of heartfelt denials and home-dye fuck-ups, getting the brassy tones out of my hair is something I’ve got a bit of experience in. Here’s a few things that have worked for me, should you ever find yourself in a similar situation to Biebs.
If you’re broke as hell
This one sounds like it might have the potential to go VERY, VERY WRONG but if you’ve got no cash, you’ve got no cash so go forth, but just be careful. As any self-respecting at-home blonde dyer knows, the opposite of those gold brassy tones your hair goes is purpley blue, or ‘violet’ to be precise.
So, all you need to make your own DIY toner is a few drops of purple food dye (or red and blue) to add to your shampoo and conditioner. Four tiny purple drops (or two red and two blue) to each application should do the trick. Make sure you mix it together before applying. If your hair is very orange, leave it on for 45 minutes, otherwise a swift 15 minutes should do.

If you’re miraculously doing all right for cash this month
I mean, if only for the very excellent name, Fudge Paintbox’s Whiter Shade Of Pale hair toner does a very nice job. In my very humble opinion it could do with being left on a little longer than the 15-30 minutes the packaging suggests (I do about 45), but it’s top dog at keeping different tones alight.

If you’ve just been paid
Honestly really truly, Wella SP Silver Blonde Shampoo is the absolute bomb. It literally turned my hair from gold to silver. It’s slightly more expensive than your average shampoo at around the £11 mark, but if you want to step out from under the brassy gold umbrella to the ice cool silvery blonde sunlight then this is your foolproof guy.
