Anyone who grew up in the 90s it’s pretty much a guarantee you’ll have been a fan of the Backstreet Boys, if not what the hell is wrong with you? I can only assume you were more of an NSYNC kinda girl.
For us some pretty seminal moments happened while ‘Quit Playing Games With My Heart’ played in the background (just me?) - so needless to say when the band where no more I was pretty heart broken.
Well now the guys are back – for their 22nd anniversary (anyone else feeling old?) they are releasing a documentary, directed by Stephen Kijak, giving a complete insight to the making of their last album ‘In A World Like This’ in 2013 and looking at what is it actually like being in boy band. It's hard not to get slightly over excited while writing this...
The film is a mixture of retro clips of Brian, Nick, A.J. McLean, Kevin Richardson, and Howie Dorough , showing the band’s major takeover in the music world and my heart in the early noughties, some pretty awesome dance routines (yep, I knew them all), some very questionable hair cuts (though let’s be honest NO ONE did curtains like Nick Carter) and A LOT of screaming fans – yep, including me - right there in row four, waving our 'We Love Kevin' banner around like a lunatic.
But what’s really touching is the more recent interviews with the band asking ‘What do you do when you’re a full-grown man in a boy band?’ - pretty damn weird by the looks of it. It's totally emotional.
