It’s a big news day in the fashion world today as, after much speculation, and nearly 18 months since Emma Hill left her role as creative director of Mulberry, the brand has finally appointed a new top dog. Johnny Coca, former accessories design director at Céline, will be taking the reins from July.

‘I very much look forward to joining Mulberry as its new creative director and to leading a new design direction at one of the very best British brands,’ the designer said today.

Johnny previously worked at Bally and Louis Vuitton before heading up accessories at Céline, where he designed the cult trapeze bag and skater shoes that catapulted the brand into a whole new level of cool.

We’re obviously excited to see what Johnny comes up with once he has settled into Mulberry HQ, so we’ve had a stab at guessing what the new collections might look like...

Céline’s mini luggage bag looks pretty great with a cute tree logo in a signature Mulberry silhouette – the trusty tote.

Meet this season’s belt bag from Céline, crossed with the heroic Alexa top flap. We see this little number perched over many a sleb’s arms.

We love a good Mulberry lock clasp, and reckon it might look brilliant paired with the sleek lines of a Céline pocket flapbag. The perfect cocktail company.

Say hello to Cara D’s cool new camo purse for Mulberry crossed with Céline’s Orb Clutch flap. It’s the chic coin holder out there.

The two epic successes of two powerhouse brands... the Bayswater and the Trapeze. This is literally genius.
