We’ve all heard the phrase that you can put lipstick on a pig but she’ll never be pretty – it’s a bit of a gross phrase, to be honest. But Miley’s switched it up and nailed it with her latest antics, by painting the trotters of her pig with bright red nail varnish. If it’s good enough for Miss Piggy, it’s good enough for Miley’s micropig (who is called ‘Bubba Sue’ but is most frequently referred to by her owner as just ‘pig’).

The pop star uploaded a photo of the porky makeover to her Instagram profile, along with the natty caption ‘pig pig gonna be lookin fresh’. However, some fans were a bit worried about the wellbeing of the pet swine, as nail polish can have some pretty woozy-inducing fumes.

One said ‘that is cruel’, another said ‘miley testing nail varnish on animals?? Stupid Americans’ and another chimed in: ‘What is wrong with you?’

However, it could just be that that Miley, for all her down-at-the-ranch basic country gal attitude, took her pig to a specific pig grooming parlour to get her trotters done. We mean, she’s got about half a dozen pets and none of them have previously been in jeopardy – and after her dog Floyd died, she had her set designers make a giant blow-up version of him so she could serenade him on her Bangerz tour. She’s properly dedicated to her animals.

Plus, Bubba Sue looks really pretty both before and after her makeover, entirely redefining the notion of ‘pig ugly’.
