Warehouse is a bit like that mate that you don't often go for a drink with, but when you do, you have a blast. If you've not had a date with this oft-overlooked high-street faithful then get yourself down there right now because their current offering is off the hook and pretty purse-friendly, too. (AKA, mainly under £50).

You might usually associate dark colours with winter, but Warehouse has gone hard on the pastels this season and they're anything but sweet. Like Burberry, Marc Jacobs, and Chloe, they've gone for muted shades of blue, pink and peach, which styled with grey and other neutrals take on a fresh new iciness.

We rifled through and picked out the best bits to tempt you back to ditch the darks…

Valley Girl preppy

OK, so we might be swerving the usual pastel clichés, but the off-pink and black check of this cute pleated mini give it an edge over any Clueless fancy dress. Plus, it means it'll go just fine with black tights, too.

Matchy seperates

Chanel showed cosy-looking pastel tracksuits at their now-infamous supermarket show, but if knitted trousers seem a bit scary, Warehouse's checked pencil skirt and poloneck combo offers a more accessible way to tap the trend, while the mix of light green and grey keep up the sporty vibe.

Going grey

The hint of blue in this poloneck means it totally passes as a pastel – especially when mixed up with greys. With Twin Peaks back, and Marc Jacobs going all other-worldly rehab for this season, dressing like some kind of kitsch horror-film psychiatrist suddenly seems pretty appealing, too.

Warehouse is all over ’60s style right now and plenty of it comes in cool pastels. Mix constrasting shades such as violet and mint, and wear against white for extra impact.

The pretty side of denim

Denim and pastels work together like a dream, and the beige chevron on this delight of a jumper gives it a ’70s ski-vibe that prevents it from being boring. You needn't confine the shades to clothing, either, as these bikerish boots are as good in pink as they usually are in black.
