As we hurtle towards an election and the UK’s commitment to Europe has led to more support for UKIP than ever before, those bright sparks over at YouGov have polled the man on the street on sex. Not their own sex lives, but what they imagine certain parties’ supporters do in bed. The results have been published in a book called Sex, Lies and the Ballot Box, under the intriguingly-named chapter ‘Bedroom politics: party images’ and they’re pretty damning about the sexual prowess of the more right wing parties’ supporters. Especially those pesky Ukippers.
Those polled were first of all asked for what they think are typical of Britons. Then they were asked how they thought supporters of particular political parties would behave.

While a Lib Dem or Labour supporter will go down on you (24% and 20% respectively), don’t expect head from a Ukipper – they get 12%, despite 25% of people saying they think a Ukipper wouldn’t mind having someone go down on them. Bit of a disparity, right?
While 23% of respondents said UKippers would be ‘bad’ in bed, just 14% said the same of Conservative supporters and the exact same amount said the same of Labour supporters. Lib Dem came (sorry) in at 11%, which is still 2% up from the percentage of people who said the typical British adult would be bad in bed. The sad message? The more allegiance you have to one party, the worse in bed people will think you are.

The supporters deemed the best in bed? Labour's, at 23%, 13 points higher than their nearest rival, the Conservative supporters.
Author Joe Twynman writes: ‘There are a couple of serious messages lodged in among all the kinky imagery [people think Tories are twice as likely than the average Briton to indulge in spanking and Bondage] first, voters have quite distinctive views about the sex lives of Britain’s main political tribes, illustrating the power of political stereotypes and party images, which reach even into the nation’s bedrooms.'

‘Second, while the parties have distinct bedroom images in the minds of voters, voters tend to regard all party supporters as deviating from the bedroom behaviour of ‘normal’ (that is, non-political) citizens,' he added, reports i100.
We never knew that politically-aware people were kinkier than the all the people who don't give a crap. Apart from Russell Brand, mind.
