She’s the beauty vlogger who progressed from working on a beauty counter in 2009 to boasting 2.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel and sitting front row with Olivia Palermo at this season’s Burberry show. At just 25, Tanya Burr has attracted a cult international following of girls who love her honest, girly instructional videos and her cosmetics line that has colour shades named after her favourite Disney princesses and animals (Aurora and Penguin Chick, FYI).

Her YouTube channel is a bit like watching a vlog from the classic girl next door, only she has a bulging make-up bag and 1.4 million followers on Instagram.

Tanya’s handy pics and videos will teach you everything from how to recreate Blake Lively’s plaited ponytail to how to apply the range of mega-natural false lashes that she has just launched. But enough of that, the clocks have gone back and winter is coming – what we really want to know is how to blag an extra 15 minutes in bed each morning and emerge looking even just a 10th as polished as she does on the regular. Forunately she was on hand this week to help us out with that one, too...

**You're going to have to do some pre-prep **

Don't kid yourself into thinking that we can give you a make-up routine to do in 10 mins that won't require some groundwork. Here are Tanya's tips on how to save time and space in the long run, with a tiny bit of effort now.

Invest in multi-purpose products

Tanya swears by Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream, £26. 'You can use it as lip balm, a highlighter, on your eyes for glossy eyelids, and also on tanned legs to add some shine.' You don’t get much more multi-tasking than that.

**Do your laundry **

Still struggling with epidemic level spots? Your skincare regime doesn't need to take hours, but you might want to tackle the bedding you haven't washed in five weeks. 'You have to cleanse well morning and night, and only use a nice, light moisturiser so that you don’t overload your skin, but you also need to make sure you have a clean pillow to sleep on,' says Tanya. Clear skin will save you spending hours applying concealer. Simples.

**Prep your nail polish properly **

Thought it was all about base, colour, and top coat? You’ve missed a trick, according to Tanya. 'Two coats of base-coat before applying your colour and top coat is the key to making your polish last longer.' This will save you trying to apply your nail varnish on the Tube and becoming the least popular person in the carriage.

Right, done all your prep? Excellent. So now you've got 10 minutes to spare, you may even be already on the bus to work. Here's what you do next...

Start by using your tools

Thought brushes were a faff? Think again.'If you use brushes you will be able to do your make-up faster. I find it easier to get it on, and it gets in the right places quicker,' says Tanya.

**Bronzer on your eyes is basically a total face saver **

This is Tanya’s signature look, and removes the need for rifling through endless shades of eyeshadow in your make-up bag. 'It lifts your face and makes you look good when you’re not feeling well, because it adds definition and a nice colour. If you’re pushed for time, all you need is a bit of foundation, a bit of attention paid to your brows, mascara and then bronzer.'

Speaking of brows… ditch your pencil

'Powder and an angled brush are the best way to do brows,' says Tanya. 'I find if I try and do my eyebrows quickly with a pencil they look to drawn on, because you press too hard. But with powder and a brush you can tap the powder off and you have more control – you can even use your eyeshadow to do it.'

Invest in a mineral powder

'Use a mineral powder for covering acne, because if you use liquids you tend to get it all on and then it wears off almost immediately and have to reapply.' Tanya reckons Laura Mercier’s (£31) is one of the best.

Work the un-done hairstyle

'Pop in some dry shampoo to add texture, and put it up into a cute, messy ponytail. I wore mine like that to a party the other evening, and it looks great every time,' says Tanya. A girl after our own heart
