So you might have to wait until the clothes hit the stores & high street to buy into London Fashion Week's biggest trends for next Spring - think 70's and wide leg trousers - but the beauty is way way easier to update now.
Here’s your trans-seasonal cheat sheet to the trends you're going to want to adopt pronto.
The Double-Pony at Giles
It’s grungy but structured and easy to pull off but looks like you must know your stuff. Which makes it a winner in our eyes. Spritz salt spray through dry hair first – Label.M Sea Salt Spray (£13.25) was used backstage at Giles – then use your fingers to create a v-shaped parting, securing on top of the crown in a high ponytail. Pull the sides back over the ears into a second lower ponytail at the nape of the neck. Let a few wisps loose on either side and rub the ends with your fingers for that mussed-up texture. Done.
Blurred-out polish at Erdem.
Forget about polish, top coats, nail stickers and all that – instead try a washed-out veil of warm colour. It’s quicker, simpler and far fresher than a fiddly nail job any day. At Erdem just one coat of Essie’s Carousel Coral (£8.95) was applied to finger and toenails, and then a droplet of acetone was released on top, taking the depth out for a diluted, hazy quality.
Try the new red lip at Burberry
This really is a breeze – you just need the right Burberry lipstick and a tissue. And it’s the perfect shade for winter too, so why wait? Makeup artist, Wendy Rowe used the brand’s Lip Cover in Ruby No.18 (£22.50) straight from the bullet. See, easy. But here’s the twist – she then placed a tissue over the models’ mouths and brushed on a powder so as to really mattify and seal the colour, a chilled-out update on a trad red lip.
Glossed up eyes at Emilio Pucci
Glossy eyes are for rockstars and supermodels – in real life that sexy slick of lip balm on lids will only melt into mascara minutes later, pooling in a sludgy splodge under your eyes. But at Pucci we saw a new alternative at work: MAC Trend Forecast Spring Studio Eye Gloss in Lightly Taupedhas the light-reflecting iridescence of a balm without causing any irritation or makeup to slide. Pair with a brown mascara (black if you’re naturally dark) and a load of liner in the inner rims to make it night-out appropriate.
Norm-Core Hair at Christopher Kane
This is your sweater-jeans-sneakers hair equivalent - the ultimate low maintenance look for long, mid-length and bobbed styles. Hairdressing legend, Guido prepped damp hair with Redken Satin Wear(£11.85) and let it dry naturally. He then created a centre parting with his fingers – a comb would make it too neat – and pulled a few wisps away at the front, finishing with Redken Shine Flash(£10.45) for an almost slick shine.
Sooty Smoky Eye at Tom Ford
Don’t hold back here – piling on a LOT of makeup is what it’s all about. Using metallic cream or crayons (Tom Ford’s don’t launch until spring 2015, but we recommend Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Black Diamonds, £19), create a dense, gutsy layer all around the eyes, building and blending with your fingers and a soft brush. Metallics are more forgiving so no need to be too precise, just whack it on. Add liner to the inner rims and top with layers of mascara.
BIG Braids at Michael Kors
A braid is usually a way of keeping hair on lock-down, but for SS15, they’re wild, messy and downright dirty – what could be better for cold, windswept winter days?! The secret is a ton of dry shampoo, preferably Batiste Dry Shampoo XXL Volume - it will make even the finest hair almost double in size. Spray it through the crown AND length, rub it in with your fingers and then loosely gather the hair into a braid from the nape of the neck, pulling strands out as you go along.
