When you need a hangover hideaway – Visit Bar
If you don’t fancy spending every waking moment at the beach (there is more to Barcelona you know) then hit up our favourite daytime hangout. It’s smack bang in the centre of town and is a little on the luxe side, being in a hotel, but most importantly it’s the ideal place for some shade and a drink. If you just can’t resist that sunshine It’s up to the roof terrace for you. Hungover? Of course you are. They do a Bloody Mary like no other so you’ll be back on form in no time.
For Barcelona’s best G&Ts - XiXBar
This place may be small in size but it makes up for it with a kickass selection of gins and good prices. A little bit off the beaten track once you’ve tracked this joint down you’ll be here for the long haul; it’s perfect for great gin cocktails, good vibes and hot Spanish bartenders who know their sh*t. Hit the gins hard and get experimenting - they have everything from homemade infusions to G&Ts garnished with a sprig of rosemary.
For beachside burgers – Makamaka
When you’re focussing on the beach bod, burgers may not be the first thing on your mind, but they seriously do go hand-in-hand at this seaside hangout. The crowd is basically Barcelona’s cool kids, looking uber sun kissed and tucking into one of the banging burgers . Fancy hotting things up? Go for their Hot Mama with homemade spicy cream cheese with a side of garlic and parmesan fries and then get that body to the beach. Maybe time to sunbathe on your front?
For wild parties – Betty Ford
In need of a big blow out? Betty Ford has got your back with big drinks, mega party vibes and everyone from the city’s skaters to beach babes for company. At the weekend, this is where the party’s at and if it happens to move on after 3am this crowd will know where it’s headed so get following, after party style.
Get Instagramin' – Boca Chica
Stag’s heads, balloon sized mirror balls, walls adorned with animal skins, Hollywood-esq black and white photos and a DJ in the bathroom; Boca Chica has got Instagram written all over it. The bartenders make drinks a big as their ego’s, pouring liquids from up high and garnishing quicker than you can flick your hair. Get snappin’ and put a filter on it, talking to your friends can wait.
The after party is at - Pipa Club
Lurking in one of the four corners of Plaza Real is the door to one of Barcelona’s hottest parties. The doorman is not as fierce as he looks but be sure to look effortlessly cool and rock up with a ‘know-what-you’re-doing’ face and you’ll be fine. The Pipa Club is pretty much the all night house party you’ve always wanted to go to; there’s a snooker room, party room and corridors full of lounging locals and boozers. The central meeting spot of pipe puffers is also a jazz club/tango den. This is Barcelona after all, get in to it.
