It’s hardly a secret that Hollywood doesn’t have the best reputation when it comes to female representation in films. For every Hunger Games-style feisty female protagonist, there’s still an tidal wave of flimsy roles that are more about showing a bit of tit or leg than they are about any genuine female emotion or experience.

No doubt largely because only 16 per cent of the people in director, writer, producer and editor roles in Hollywood are women. (Side note: if you are interested in the few films that have passed the Bechdel test – where at least two women talk to each other about something other than a man – here are a few worth finding on Netflix.)

But in case you were in any doubt, Buzfeed has made this video, which shows you just how sexist some of the most famous film scenes really are, by replacing the female roles with male actors. We particularly enjoyed the Twilight and Wild Things adaptations, which nicely show how creepily obsessive the guys in the films are and insanely sexualised the women are. Regardless, the video is lols and well worth a look.
