In news that bodes well for any and all Beyoncé and Jay-Z fans hoping the power couple will bring their Mr and Mrs Tour to the UK, reports emerge that the pair have just bought a house in West London. Though they looked at the Cotswolds – where Kate Moss, Lily Allen and that cheese-making Alex James from Blur all live – they decided to spend their money – £5.5m of their money, to be precise – on more centrally-located accommodation.

It is thought that they'll bring their tour to the UK in autumn, with the house giving them a good base to get to know London after years of sporadically renting out properties and hotel rooms in the UK's capital.

A source told The Mirror: 'Both Jay and Beyoncé are Anglophiles and have been toying with the idea of getting a pad for a couple of years now.'

'On previous trips, they have stayed in five star hotels and, on one occasion, a rented mansion. While money isn’t an issue, it makes sense for them to have a more permanent base and get to know one particular area.' 'They are coming to England this year and touring before the year is out.'

Normally the news of foreign investors driving up London's – and the UK's – already-inflated property prices would get under our skin. But this time, with the potential for us to see Jay and Bey perform live, it's pretty exciting a prospect. Also, even if we can't fork out the inevitable £60 to see their gig, we could totally just loiter around Portobello Road on market days, keeping an eye out for the pair and their bub Blue Ivy. That's definitely a valid way to spend a Sunday.

And if they do Notting Hill Carnival? Well, that's when our year peaks.
