Before making her way down the red carpet for the New York premiere for her new movie Noah, Emma Watson shared a picture on her Twitter account revealing her favourite - and red carpet essential - beauty items. Alongside Commando Better Than Nothing Knickers, Tide Stain Remover and Topstick Men’s Grooming Tape, were a few of our favourite, but not necessarily well known, favourites.

The best mascara known to women
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara, £12. Okay this is literally the best thing ever. I own five! If, like me, your mascara on your bottom lashes tends to migrate south you will love this. It has a teeny-tiny brush so you can coat even the fairest and shortest of lashes and it has the most robust formula in the world so once it’s on it’s going nowhere. Nothing short of miraculous.
A face mist we always keep on our desks
Suqqu is one of those brands that even though on the face of it you think it’s quite expensive, it’s worth every penny. The Face Mist, £35, that Emma used before hitting the red carpet is particularly great for perking up a dull complexion, it makes skin dewy and luminous. Both good things if the world’s media will soon be looking your way. Other favourites of ours from this Japanese brand is the Foundation, £62, – it’s cream with a medium converage and basically PhotoShop for your skin – and their incredible silky softy brushes, from £22. Make-up supremo Lisa Eldridge (who has often done Emma’s make-up) is a huge fan of these brushes. If you don’t know this brand yet we recommend you make an effort to do so.
A tool that'll transform how you put on your foundation
So it looks as though Emma’s radiant skin was down to our favourite make-up applicator, the Beauty Blender. If you’re not already using it this humble little tool will completely transform how you apply your make-up. It’s a dense sponge which you dampen before using it to apply your base. It blends and buffs the product into your skin so that it looks completely seamless, seriously, no brush strokes, no creasing – it’s genius. You use the plump end to blend foundation all over your face and then the pointy end to blend concealer and highlighter under your eyes, around your nose, basically anywhere awkward. At £16 it sounds expensive for a make-up sponge but the finish it will give your skin is well worth it. Plus as long as you clean it you can reuse it over and over again. But don’t be tempted to buy a cheaper version that claims to do the same thing because it just won’t.
An organic skincare range that's worth knowing about
MV Organic Skincareis a fairly new discovery of ours, it’s from Australia and while Emma has been known to be a fan for a while now other fans include Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Maggie Gyllenhaal. It’s not so readily available in the UK but you can find it at Cult Beauty. As the name implies the range is completely natural and organic and originally created with very sensitive skin in mind, and those with skin conditions such as eczema, but it’s just lovely on all skin types. Emma’s choice of the Pure Jojoba, £28, is a hero product; deeply nourishing and calming if your skin is feeling sensitive.
